It's been about a month and a half since The Beard and I moved into our new apartment. There are still boxes occupying half of the dining room and I haven't touched the vacuum sweeper my parents gave us, except to bring it inside and put it next to the pantry. I check the mailbox every day in fear of the first gas bill. Our dishwasher leaks occasionally (just occasionally), there's cilantro growing in the windowsill and the walls are bare. But, like most 20somethings, we had Internet before we had furniture, which is fitting anyway, since I'm a freelance writer and Wifi is my life's blood.
This is his and my first foray into living with a significant other, and it's even more fun (stressful/lively/frustrating) because my six-year-old is here half the week, adding to the general slovenliness of the living room and asking a million questions about everything (EVERYTHING, including: Would we like to hug a cat? [no.] Can he play Wii for five hours? [no.] Why does the broccoli taste like cardboard? [Because I like my food burnt AND SO SHOULD YOU.])
I work from home, I eat at least half of my meals in bed and my new heroes are: 1) Andie, this girl who lost 135 lbs. and has maintained a healthy weight ever since (see her blog here); and 2) David Benioff, who is hot and a brilliant writer. And it all comes together.
You see, I love cooking healthy yet sinfully delicious foods in my mission to lose weight, get healthy and get in shape, and I am an obsessed Game of Thrones fan. Those are really the two defining forces in my life right now. Okay, that and Pinterest. Seriously, who invented Pinterest? I feel like I am a cat and Pinterest is the red laser pointer making me run back and forth and up walls. Eeesh.
This might be boring, this might be humiliating, but I doubt much of anyone will read this anyway. Welcome to the year before I turn 30. Welcome to unfeigned surprise and inappropriate jokes and no pants. Welcome to teaching a six-year-old that life is grossly unfair but you're better for it when all is said and done.
And food pics. So many food pics. You're welcome.
